[00:00:00] Speaker A: And she said, I never thought of God as kind. And I was like, wow, first of all, that just blew my mind. But when she said that, I thought, okay, well, it's his kindness that leads us to repentance. Right? That's exactly. That's what I said. I said, it's his kindness that leads us to repentance. And then she said, really? And this is not just some random person off the street or like a brand new Christian. She's been in church for years, at least her whole adult life. And so we have to take those things, those truths from scripture that maybe we've never seen or God is revealing something in this moment about himself. What are you saying, God? That you are kind. God is kind. So that is a clear example of something that you can take that God has revealed to you and turn it into a declaration that I serve a kind God. God is kind towards me and it's his kindness that has led me to repentance. [00:00:54] Speaker B: Welcome to Believe and Become Spirit Led breakthrough for transformation that lasts. [00:01:19] Speaker A: Let's believe what God says and become who he created us to be. [00:01:30] Speaker B: I am who God says I am. [00:01:32] Speaker A: I walk in freedom because the truth has set me free. [00:01:35] Speaker B: I renew my mind daily with truth and am transformed. [00:01:39] Speaker A: I am not defined by my past. Jesus makes all things new. [00:01:43] Speaker B: I choose joy today because I am rooted in God's love. [00:01:48] Speaker A: I replace fear with faith and lies with truth. [00:01:52] Speaker B: I am fully known, fully loved and fully accepted by God. Well, welcome to the Believe and Become podcast. We're so glad you're joining us. We're excited about what we're going to talk about today. [00:02:04] Speaker A: Yes we are. [00:02:05] Speaker B: We are talking about declarations, one of our favorite topics and we thought we would start the episode speaking out some declarations. [00:02:13] Speaker A: Declarations are so powerful and I'm so excited for us to cover this today. But before we do that, we would love to invite you to rate and review this podcast to leave us a five star review and share with a friend if you find us encouraging or if you find anything helpful useful in this podcast episode. I'm sure the Lord is putting someone on your heart right now who could use an encouraging message like this. So go ahead and click share. We'll wait for you. [00:02:45] Speaker B: We talked in episode seven about the power of declarations, but I don't think you can talk about these too much. [00:02:50] Speaker A: No. [00:02:51] Speaker B: Because our words are so powerful. [00:02:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:53] Speaker B: And you can't change your life without changing the way you speak. [00:02:58] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Because out of the overflow of your heart, the mouth speaks. [00:03:02] Speaker A: Yeah. So whatever you're speaking is coming from some place. And so if you're speaking negativity over your life, you're going to bring negativity into your life. But that comes from a place of maybe a heart that's not fully surrendered or some maybe deep seated beliefs that have not been transformed. And so we want to be pure spring. We want to be a place that is refreshing and encouraging to others. And we do that with declarations to kind of clean out those pipes and get the truth into our hearts, our minds, our very souls. [00:03:35] Speaker B: It's so important to take control of our words. That to me, is a discipline that shows that we're being intentional about what we're thinking, about what we're believing, what we're saying. And so it's. I mean, in James, he says that if you can bridle your tongue, what's the rest of the verse? [00:03:55] Speaker A: You can control your whole self. Right. Because it's like the rudder of a ship. So if you can control, if you're in charge of the rudder, you're in charge of the ship. If you're in charge of your tongue, then you're going to direct your life, you're going to move it in a certain direction. Proverbs 18:21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. And Proverbs 16:24 says, Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. Our words are important. They carry life and death. They carry health for our bodies and our souls. And so we have to be careful to use that power wisely. [00:04:29] Speaker B: And it just shows that you are taking God's word seriously, because that Proverbs 18:21 is a serious verse, but it is a serious promise too. We take him at his word and says, if we love the power of the tongue, we'll eat its fruit. So that means we have some power to change our lives. So what are declarations? So we think of those as just speaking in agreement with God's truth over ourselves, other people, our situation. And this doesn't mean that we're ignoring or discounting the facts of our circumstances, but we're actually believing truth that is higher than the facts of what's happening. And so if there's something in our lives that doesn't align with God's word, we're going to speak out the truth until it changes us from the inside out. Yeah. [00:05:16] Speaker A: I love how Joel3.10 says, Let the weak say I am strong. He's not even. I feel like this is one of those verses where you could be like. If somebody said that, you would be like, well, you're just denying the facts of your life, of your situation. Right. But he says, let the weak say I am strong. And we can go to the Scriptures for that. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Right. That Jesus is the one who's living inside of us. His power is working inside of us. So even if we feel weak in my weakness, his strength is made perfect. We can go to the Word and we can see this is actually. This actually resonates through the Word, that we have the authority with our words to speak the truth of what God says over the reality that we might be seeing in our lives or the circumstance. So I might feel weak, but I can speak that I am strong because of the truth of who I am in Christ and who Christ is in me. [00:06:10] Speaker B: Yeah. And if you go back to Joshua 1, don't let these word, the word of the law, depart from your mouth. He was commanded. He was God's. It was so important for them, in order for them to make it into the promised land. He said, I need the truth on your lips all the time. And I think that's what we're called to do as new covenant believers. We need to be in the Word and we need to be declaring it over ourselves, over our family, over our circumstances. That's one of the most powerful tools that God has given us to transform our lives. And so, yeah, it's just really important. [00:06:44] Speaker A: I think that's so good. How God instructed Joshua, recite the law. Because he was. What he was saying was, keep it on your lips. The covenant that we've made. Continue to think about it day after day, continue to speak about it day after day, night after night. Keep it in your remembrance, but keep it on your tongue, keep it close. Because there were things that Joshua had to do that I'm sure he was afraid to do or that looked like impossible situations. But when he recited the promises of God, because the law wasn't just necessarily like, do this, don't do that, even though it was. But it was promises, right? If you obey, if you walk with me, there's a covenant there that the Lord's presence would go before them and be with them. And so it's important that in our lives we are reciting the covenant. Whether that is. I'm a new believer, and all I know is that he saved me. Amazing. That's what you recite. That's what you rehearse. When you don't feel saved, you remember, I'm saved by grace, through faith. Jesus died for my sins, and I received him into my life, and I am saved. And so just wherever you are in your journey, remembering his promises and speaking them over your life, and maybe. Yeah. Remembering the. The laws and the commands that he's given us and the things that we don't want to do, speaking those over ourselves as reminders, that's important as well. But we are just constantly reminding ourselves of who we are in Christ. I think that's so imperative. [00:08:08] Speaker B: Yeah. Joshua was spending time with God. He was getting direct information from the Lord. This is what I want you to do. Here's how we're going to take Jericho. [00:08:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:16] Speaker B: And I bet that those were words that he was saying over and over, too. Like, he. It wasn't just the book of the law. [00:08:23] Speaker A: Right. [00:08:23] Speaker B: But I think also it was like, okay, God. God told me to do this. [00:08:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:27] Speaker B: And I bet it took some effort to psych himself up to be like, okay, guys, here's the plan. We're gonna march around the city. [00:08:34] Speaker A: Then we're gonna blow our trumpets, and. [00:08:36] Speaker B: We'Re gonna blow our trumpets, and it's. The walls are gonna fall down and something's gonna happen. [00:08:39] Speaker A: I don't know what it is. [00:08:40] Speaker B: Right. Exactly. And so it's the same thing. I mean, if you've ever been on a sports team, in the locker room, it's not quiet and somber before the game. They're getting fired up and they're using their voices, the coaches getting the team excited. And this is how we can do this in our Christian walk. Even this morning, I was feeling a little bit bummed out. I was feeling a little discouraged, and I got out. I have a journal where I have written pages of declarations. [00:09:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:10] Speaker B: As I go through books that I've enjoyed reading, I'll. I'll take truths out of those and turn them into declarations. I take the things that God has spoken to me directly, his promises to me. I have those all written out in a book, and I just keep. I start reading those out out loud until something shifts. And it really works. It changes my emotions. It gets me out of any discouragement that I'm Feeling. So it's just powerful, and it will change the course of your life. For us, we find ourselves doing things we never thought possible. Like if. If you had, you know, gone back in time and told us, hey, this is what you're going to be doing in five years, you would have said, you're crazy. There's no possible way that I would have quit my job. We would have moved our country, our family, to a different city, gone to ministry, school, started a business. Yeah, there's no possible way. But this is the power of declarations and speaking God's word over yourself, speaking his promises. I mean, God's making our dreams come true. And I think it's because we. We've decided to take him at his word. [00:10:16] Speaker A: Yeah, that's huge. And I think it is important to. To note, like, we're not saying that. You just say it and it magically happens. We're not saying that. You know, you can just say, like, I want a million dollars, and then a million dollars is going to show up. What we are saying is that if you want something to change in your life, you have to change the way you talk. If you want something to. To begin to show up, you have to begin to speak. Speak that out. For example, if I want to lose weight, if I want to go on a diet, Right? This is something that many of us have probably embarked on at some point in our lives. It's really hard to do that on your own without ever telling anybody. You have zero accountability. Right. If you mess up, it's just between you and yourself, like, nobody else knows. There's very little that will change without you saying to somebody, hey, I'm gonna go on a weightless journey. I want to lose this much weight or I want to get healthy. And these are the things that I want to do. And you have to say something in order to. To start to move yourself in that direction. And I'm sure there are people out there who are like, well, I lost a hundred pounds and, you know, I never told anybody. I just did it. Well, that's great. I'm so happy for you. But there had to be a change that was made. And often those changes start with our words, with the way we talk about. Even in that instance, the way that maybe you talk about yourself, the way that you talk about food, the way that you talk about your relationships. Those things have to start to change. Otherwise, the change that you want to make will be very, very difficult. We have to put those thoughts before us with our words. And so we I think that the idea that, like, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. We say things that are in line with who we really are, I think is what Jesus was saying. But I think in order for us to begin to change who we really are, we actually have to speak to ourselves and speak to our situation. And. And so it's a circle. Right. One follows the other and back and forth. And so you don't have something just by saying something, but in order to have something, you do have to say something. [00:12:16] Speaker B: Yeah. And I've been thinking about how David encouraged himself. And I feel like this is one of the best ways you can do it. You sure you can. You can think yourself encouraged. [00:12:25] Speaker A: Right. [00:12:26] Speaker B: But I think that it's. It's just more powerful when you say it out loud and you actually hear your saying the truth. There's extra power in that because you're getting more of your body involved. You can. Even when you're doing your declarations, you can get excited, you can jump up and down, you can pump your fist, whatever it is. [00:12:44] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:45] Speaker B: But all of that helps in that transformation process. You can imagine yourself, use your imagination to see what does that look like? When I embody, I can do all things through Christ. What does that feel like? [00:12:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:57] Speaker B: And then now you've. You've gone from just, I'm thinking that to I'm speaking it, I'm moving it, I'm acting it, I'm imagining it. You're using everything that God has given you to affect that transformation in your life. And, yeah, it's. It's just such a powerful tool. [00:13:13] Speaker A: And I think all of those different ways of declaring, because we can declare with our bodies and we can declare in our imagination, and all of those different things, those trigger different pathways in our mind. And so we're actually reinforcing what we're saying with our actions. We're reinforcing it with our imagination. It's not just the words, but it's actually your whole. You're involving your whole self in it, and that is firing different synapses. [00:13:37] Speaker B: Well, and this all comes from God, and he created us. Yeah. He knows how. We're wired better than we do, better than scientists know. Although we're catching up. And we keep discovering more and more about how we're. How God created us. Yeah. And so let's take the word at it at face value. What has God said to us? And let's. Let's try it out. Let's experiment and see if that doesn't work for Us. [00:14:01] Speaker A: Well. And I think even there's something to the two declarations that's connected with prayer. Like when you're speaking your prayers out loud. I find that when I'm praying by myself in my room, in my head, there's a thousand other things happening in there. It's very difficult for me to concentrate on what I'm saying or on the direction I'm going. But for me, one of the things that has helped with keeping myself awake during prayer, but also praying with intention and with purpose is I stand up and I walk around and pray out loud. And so I pace the kitchen and I pray for my family or I pray for the situation that I'm in. I walk around my room, back and forth around my bed. Our room is not very big. We can just go back and forth. But I go, I move my body and I use my words. And I think, yes, our prayers are powerful even when they're. We're praying inwardly, but when we speak them out loud now, we're serving notice to the enemy that, hey, you better watch out, because I'm praying. And we're speaking those things into the lives of our families and our circumstances and ourselves. And so I think there's something about declarations that is even carried through in our prayers. And your declarations can be thanksgiving, right, God, thank you that I can do anything because you are inside of me. Thank you that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside of me. Thank you that I'm filled with resurrection life. Right. So it can be thanksgiving. It doesn't necessarily have to be like, I do declare, you know, but it can be this kind of prayer that we're reminding ourselves of who God is and who we are in Him. [00:15:35] Speaker B: That's how we take up our authority that Jesus has given us. He won on the cross and gave it back to us. We have authority in our prayer life. And a lot of times we approach God as a victim or we're feeling pathetic or pitiful, maybe God will have pity on me. And we're praying kind of weak prayers. [00:15:55] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:56] Speaker B: But once we. We switch that around and go, okay, these are God's promises to me. I'm speaking them out in authority because his promises are true. And so that's part of us taking up our authority that he's given to us. So we know that declarations or this idea of just speaking things out so that it happens, if that's been picked up by the New Age movement and different people have, you know, said we're taking advantage Taking advantage of it. And that's, you know, don't get us wrong. What we're doing is we're taking the truth of God's word. Mm. And what he has spoken to us, especially if he has re. Given you a promise personally, we're saying those things out loud over ourselves, and we're just agreeing with the truth of Scripture. And it's not a magic formula where you just say random things out and it's just gonna magically happen. Right. It's not what it is. We're just aligning ourselves. We're aligning our speech and our beliefs with God. What God has already said, that's really good. [00:16:55] Speaker A: So we have this great thought about, okay, I'm gonna align myself with God's word. How do I imp. What am I supposed to do with it? Once I've got it, what do I do with it? And so we say personalize it. Right? If you have been praying about something and you have a scripture that the Lord has put on your heart, and you feel like he's given that to you as a promise, great. Put your name in there. And just like I said earlier, turn it into a declaration. God, thank you that I can do all things through Jesus Christ. Thank you that the same power that was at work in Jesus is at work in me. Just personalize it. What does this say about me? What does the scripture say about me? Or what does it say about God? Maybe there's a shift that you need to make in your thinking. I recently was speaking with a lady, and she read my book, and it talks about how when God speaks to us, it's a kinder, gentler, wiser voice. And she said, I never thought of God as kind. And I was like, wow, first of all, that just blew my mind. But when she said that, I thought, okay, well. Well, it's his kindness that leads us to repentance. Right? That's exactly. That's what I said. I said, it's his kindness that leads us to repentance. And then she said, really? And this is not just some random person off the street or like a brand new Christian. She's been in church for years, at least her whole adult life. And so we have to take those things, those truths from scripture that maybe we've never seen, or God is revealing something in this moment about himself. What are you saying, God? That you are kind. God is kind. So that is a clear example of something that you can take that God has revealed to you and turn it into a declaration that I serve a Kind God. God is kind towards me and it's his kindness that has led me to repentance. It's the thing that draws me to Him. And so just turning that I'm going to change the way I think about God. I'm not going to move past this until I really see him as a kind father as I see him as benevolent, as compassionate, as loving as all these things. And so those are the moments where we have the opportunity to grab onto something to a revelation, to a promise. And we get to say I'm going to continue to declare it until I begin to feel it. And when something happens, I can say that's not God because that wasn't kind. Right. So we, we begin to see the shift. We say it multiple times a day, anytime the enemy comes against us and we do it intentionally until we begin to see the shift in our thinking, in our beliefs and in our feelings. [00:19:18] Speaker B: Yeah, we're just reprogramming our brain to think truth instead of lies. And that doesn't happen accidentally. You have to be intentional about it and you have to put some effort into it. But it is so worth it. I love taking scriptures that jump off the page. We've all had that where we're reading and something jumps off the page and it has life on it. That's the voice of God speaking through the his written word to us. And take those and make those into declarations that are personal for yourself. I also love just spending time with the Lord, asking him, who am I? How did you create me? Who did you create me to be? What is my identity? Because fathers impart identity. That's what he loves to do. And so I'm just going to share some of my declarations with you. These are things that God has spoken to me and these are ones that I do almost every day. I'm a leader of leaders. I call out people's God given identity and release them into God's destiny. I'm a radical encourager and my words release grace for people to become who they're meant to be. I set people free from fear, anxiety and depression to complete freedom in Jesus Christ. I radically encourage people into the truth of who God made them to be. I'm an author, speaker and business owner that brings the kingdom of God from heaven to earth through radical generosity. I'm a beloved son of the most high God. I am valuable and the list goes on and on. But these are all things that God has spoken to me and I just need to remind myself of those things. So if you have. If you have stuff that God has said to you, we can't forget those things. Or they're written down in a notebook somewhere. [00:20:51] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:52] Speaker B: This is a way of just reminding yourself, oh, yeah, God said that to me. And the next thing you know, you're operating out of that identity that God has given you instead of, I forgot. I forgot who I am. I forgot who God told me I was so good, I forgot what I'm supposed to do. And I'm like, I've reverted back to old ways of thinking. So it's just a way of living in the promises every single day. We're living in the promises of God. [00:21:16] Speaker A: Yeah. That's so good. And I think, too, as you were talking, I was thinking about how many either prophetic words or encouraging words that I've been given over the years that I wrote down and then never looked at again. And how many times have you. Have you had a scripture jump out at you or God has spoken something to your heart and you're like, that's so beautiful. And you maybe write it down and then you never see it again. Or you find it years later and you're like, I forgot he said this to me. But if we take those words that he has spoken to our hearts or that others have brought to us to encourage us, and we begin to declare them over ourselves on a regular basis, you can't forget it. You don't forget. And so I want to share some of mine, too. I'm a lover of Jesus who is wildly loved by God. I'm a mother, natural and spiritual, called to raise up world changers. I am a connector connecting people to God and his presence. I am a beacon and a lighthouse, a light in darkness reflecting God's beauty, creativity and kindness. I am anointed whether I feel like it or not. And wherever I find myself, I always walk in my anointing. My voice vibrates with the frequency of heaven, bringing things into alignment on Earth. I'm a worship warrior, armed and dangerous. I love that when we either get prophetic words from other people or when God speaks to our heart, it just so resonates with who you are. It's just so beautiful. If you've never gotten a prophetic word, will you just email us or comment and we will send you a word? Honestly, it's my favorite thing to encourage people that I don't know with the truth of who God says they are, because it blows my mind how he can be so accurate, how he can tell me something about someone that I've never met and it's always so encouraging and just beautiful. But I love when I receive a prophetic word from a complete stranger and it just nail who I am and some that from people that I didn't know, but it just resonates God's heart. And I love that you said fathers impart identity and God is our Father and that is his desire to tell us who we are so that we can. Ephesians 2:10. Right. That we are his masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works that he prepared in advance. He already knows the things that he made you to do, and he knows who you are because he made you. And, and so for him to be able to tell us those things, for us to wait on him to say God, who am I? And allow him to speak into that, it's. It's so huge and it's just life changing. [00:23:38] Speaker B: So we thought it would be fun to play a little declaration game, I guess. A game of how can we take that higher? [00:23:45] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:46] Speaker B: So. Because you can write declarations that are good, but why settle for good when they can be better? So here's an example of a declaration. God is setting me free from sin. Well, that's pretty good. I'm in process. [00:23:59] Speaker A: Right. [00:23:59] Speaker B: I'm being set free. But how can we take that higher, Karina? [00:24:02] Speaker A: Well, there's one that I say with the boys every morning that's from the igniting Hope Kids declarations. And it is this. I am free from sin and alive in Him. [00:24:14] Speaker B: Ooh. [00:24:14] Speaker A: I'm not just being set free. It's not. I'm. I know that I'm in process, but I am free from sin. Jesus died. He paid the price to set me free. [00:24:23] Speaker B: So. [00:24:23] Speaker A: So I am actually already free from sin. [00:24:25] Speaker B: Yes. [00:24:26] Speaker A: And not just free from sin, but I'm alive in him. And I think that's really cool. So I am free from sin and alive in Him. [00:24:33] Speaker B: Yeah. And both of those are true. Right. But one of them just has a little more authority, a little more power, a little more oomph behind it. And it's always good to say things in a way it's declarative. Yeah. This is what God has already done in my life. This is my identity that I already have. Instead of I'm stepping into this or God is allowing me to do this. [00:24:55] Speaker A: Or doing this in me, which is still good, but it's not necessarily identity. It's still kind of a little bit stuck, I think. [00:25:03] Speaker B: So you want to take the promise that you have from God, put it into Present tense. This is what I am. This is who I am. Because we want to operate out of our identity, make it part of who we are, not just something external that is happening. That's how we personalize those and make them our own. [00:25:20] Speaker A: Yeah. That's really good. So what about this one? This one is a good one, but it could go higher, I think. I write books. I am a book writer. [00:25:28] Speaker B: Well, that's. That's pretty good. But what if you haven't written any books, but, you know, you're supposed to. I think a way to take that higher is just to speak out of the identity. I am an author. Yeah. Even if you haven't written any books. But if, you know, if God has said, I've created you to communicate my truth to other people, he created me to be an author. [00:25:48] Speaker A: Right. [00:25:48] Speaker B: Then you're speaking identity over yourself. You're saying, this is who I am. I'm an author. And even if I never finish that book, that's still my identity. Yeah. Well. [00:25:58] Speaker A: And I think it takes the focus off of what you're doing. [00:26:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:01] Speaker A: And it puts it into who you are. So maybe I think an author is someone who writes books, but maybe an author, the way that God made you or me is to write poetry or to write pamphlets or to write articles for magazines. There's so many other things that that could be, you know, and so putting that into a being, not a doing. Right. So this is who I am, not what I do. I think that gives God a lot. [00:26:27] Speaker B: More to work with. Yeah. And you could even take that higher and say, I'm an author that writes transformative blog posts. [00:26:33] Speaker A: There you go. [00:26:34] Speaker B: That radically change people's lives. [00:26:37] Speaker A: People encounter God when they read things I've written. [00:26:40] Speaker B: That's right. So add some creativity in there. [00:26:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:26:44] Speaker B: And think about the impact of what does this identity mean to me, to my family, to the world? What is God going to do through me as I step into my identity? So those are just a couple examples, but we hope that that has been helpful for you to think about. What are God's promises to mean? How can I make those feel alive and active and impart identity to myself as I'm speaking it out? Because it's. If God said it over you, it's the truth. And so walk that out. And one of the ways that we start that process is to declare the truth over ourselves. So right now, God is imparting grace to you. That's his supernatural power to change. He's giving you grace to identify those things. That he's already spoken over you. And in fact, he's tuning you in to his voice so that you can hear the identity that he wants to impart to you, who he created you to be, what is your purpose in life. He created you uniquely and he wants to tell you what that uniqueness is, how he wants to use you to reach and change the world. He's doing that right now. He's giving you grace to sit with him, to hear his voice, to write down his promises, to collect those things that you've learned over the years, your favorite Bible verses, and change those into declarations that will change the course of your life. So this is an example of what we do with some of our coaching clients. In fact, in every session we sit down and help our clients write declarations. What is the truth? What is God speaking over this situation in your life? Let's write that into a declaration and then say that at least once a day, a couple times a day, as often as you can. And check out our website.
