[00:01:29] Speaker B: One time as we were working through this process with a group of people, I had the privilege of just following along. Josh was leading the group and I got to participate in these five steps that we're going to walk you through. And as we did, I asked the Lord if there was a lie I was believing or something. He wanted to talk to me about an area where maybe I wasn't as hopeful as I could be. And he brought up my feelings about my health. I have struggled with some chronic health issues and I pretty much am constantly looking for the next diet, the next exercise program, the next thing that's going to fix me. I think it's human nature. We want to participate and, you know, help ourselves. And I felt like he said, Corina you're trying to save yourself. I had this picture of me drowning and trying to keep my head above the water.
And I just heard him say, you're trying to do it yourself. You're trying to save yourself. And then when we asked him for the truth, he showed me how he had thrown a life preserver and I was actually in the Life preserver, not the kind that you hang on to, but it was like I was in it and floating and the waters were calm.
And he said, all you have to do is rest in me. And it was so sweet because he just showed me in that moment that I don't have to be the one. His yoke is easy and his light. And so that became my declaration. I just rest in his healing. I don't have to go looking for it, I don't have to find it. Absolutely. I want to partner with it, but it's not my responsibility. The price has already been paid. He has already sent out the healing and the help that I need and I just have to rest in it. And so it was just such a beautiful moment for me. Literally tears coming down my eyes. And the next time that I felt, woke up feeling really awful, having a really rough day, I knew exactly what to do. I just got to go sit and be with him and rest in his presence. And I actually found a tangible measure of healing in that moment. And so we so strongly believe in this process because it has changed our lives. It's changed the way that we talk to God about what we're going through. It changed the way we talk to each other and how we encourage each other and how we approach the Lord in a lot of what we do. So we're really excited to talk to you today about this five step process to renew your mind.
[00:03:57] Speaker A: Mind renewal is how we get transformed. Romans 12:2 says, Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. But that can be kind of a nebulous thing.
I didn't really know how to do that. I mean, I knew maybe memorize some scriptures and think about those, maybe that would change me. And it does. God's word is really powerful. But this is a five step process that we've learned and we have talked to so many people and it allows us to just come to the Lord, actually let him lead the process. What are lies that I'm believing we're going to give up those lies and we're going to replace them with the truth. What His Word says, what he's speaking over us. As we meditate on what God has said that actually changes the way we think. And then as we change our thoughts, we change our beliefs, that changes our actions. And that's where that real life transformation comes out. That's how we get transformed by the renewing of our mind. But it is a process that you actually have to intentionally do with the Lord and allow it to transform you. But it is so powerful because God gives you what you need to think about in order to be transformed. Because he's just that good. He's a good father and he's speaking to you. Even right now, he's beginning that process of mind renewal in you.
So we just want to talk a little bit about this mind renewal process, what it is, what the goals of it are, and then we're going to talk through the. Actually going to walk you through the five steps. You can try this at home, Grab your free guide that we've created. And it actually has questions for you to ask. You don't even have to take notes on the podcast because we've already done it for you. So go grab that. It is so powerful if you just walk through those steps.
[00:05:42] Speaker B: So what it is, is, I like to describe it almost like guided prayer. We come alongside someone and we facilitate, facilitate a conversation between you and the Lord. And that's why we so believe you can do this on your own, because we do it on our own. And so we love to actually take our clients through the process and teach them how to do it themselves, how to walk through this with the Lord. Because our, our goal is that you will be able to identify the lies that you're believing. Any area in your life that feels hopeless or sad or difficult, you can probably guarantee there's a lie underneath that. And so we just work to identify those areas and then approach the Lord with Him so that we can tear down the strongholds that are keeping you bound. And then you can begin to walk in truth as you renew your mind with the truth of God's word and the truth that he speaks over you. So it's just this simple five step process through which we come to the Lord and break up with lies and receive truth. It's so simple and it's so sweet, but is really, really powerful. And we actually just did an episode about mind renewal, episode 48. So if you haven't listened to that, go back and listen to why it's important that we really walk out. Romans 12:2, to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And what the Bible has to say about that.
[00:07:05] Speaker A: Yeah, and the goal of this process is really just to think like Jesus. Yeah, we all have lies that we've been believing. The enemy likes to plant those in there. Sometimes human, humans help with that process too, and that it actually degrades our relationship with God, our thoughts about ourselves, our identity, our relationships with other people. Any little lies that we are unconsciously believing, it affects our beliefs and affects our actions. So what we want to do is just go through this process with the Lord. What are the lies that I'm believing? What's the truth? I'm going to renew my mind with the truth and choose to believe that instead of those lies instead. And like Corina has said, it has been so powerful in our lives and it's just such a joy to see how God works in other people's lives as we walk them through this process.
And they get, you get free, you get freedom. We're all about freedom. We love seeing people set free and not be bound by those just false beliefs that people have had for so long. We want people to be free to live the abundant life that God has for them. And this is a really powerful tool.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: Yeah. So don't forget to grab your
[email protected] five steps so that you can walk through this process with us as we go along. So step number one, identify the lie. Remember that your hope level is an indicator of where you are believing lies. This might look like someplace where you think things like we've talked about, like this is never going to change, or it's always like this, oh, I should have expected. Right. These kind of thoughts that we have about people, people about situations about God.
Often we believe lies about God that we don't think we believe on the surface level or the thought level. We know the truth of God's word and so we might say, yeah, God is trustworthy, absolutely. But when it comes to your finances, you lack hope there. Or you feel like I just have to keep trudging along because God's God hasn't provided. It's not. The because God hasn't provided or won't provide isn't maybe part of the thought process, but it's actually the lie that is underneath that if you feel like everything is your responsibility and I have to be the one, there's a lie under there about God as your provider. And so any place where you are lacking hope, any place where you're not seeing victory, there is most likely a lie underneath there. And so you can just ask yourself, where am I lacking hope or joy or peace, and just start there. This is a good place for you to kind of focus in on. And even if it's. You have no lack, you're like, I'm pretty good. I. I've got, I'm pretty hopeful. I've got joy. Where could you use more hope or more joy? Because there's always, like Josh said, those little things that can hold us back. And so we believe you can always take it higher, you can always go further with the Lord. And so if there's something when you ask that question that you kind of get a thought about something or maybe a little twinge in your heart, like, oh, I'm maybe not as joyful as I could be over that relationship.
Okay, Lord, what do you want to say? What do you want to say to me about that?
Why am I not as hopeful as I should be? And so we just want to identify the lie. What is the lie that I'm believing that's causing me to feel this way?
[00:10:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, just like, to let the Lord lead us through this process. Because sometimes we might be focused on a particular area, but God wants to deal with another one.
So come to God and say, lord, is there an area where I'm lacking hope that you want to address?
Is there a lie that I'm believing about that? And then we're just going to. It helps to be really peaceful when you do this process. Just get really calm, put on some nice soothing music, maybe spend some time in worship, read your Bible, Just get focused on the Lord, get really peaceful calm. And then you want to sit down, just have a pencil and paper, pen and paper so you can write down what you're hearing God say, and then just go through this process. If you do, grab our Five Step Guide, it has little places for you to write down what you're hearing from the Lord. And it is just so powerful.
[00:11:21] Speaker B: And remember, there's no condemnation in this process.
So if something comes up and you're like, I can't believe I thought that, like, I have had clients where we found these kind of lies and that God won't provide, or that I can't trust him, or that, you know, he's not a good father, he's not going to come through.
It can feel like, so almost devastating. Like, I've had clients that have said, I can't believe that. I believe that. Like, I know the truth. What? How could I believe that? But there's no condemnation in this process. This identification of lies is. Is not to go, oh, see, you're a bad person. That's never God's intent. It's always to draw you closer. And so when he reveals something, the goal is to break that lie, to remove that lie so that you can come into true belief and agreement with the Word and the truth. And so I just wanted to just break off any condemnation, know that there's so much grace in this process. And even as you go through it, it's okay to feel a little bit of sorrow over those things, but just let the Lord have it. He is bringing you closer to him, and that's what the purpose of this is, so that you can be more like him and you can break down those walls that hold you back from that intimacy that you desire.
[00:12:43] Speaker A: So step one, we're going to identify the lie. Then step two is to break agreement with that lie. So it helps to just say it out loud, say a short prayer, and say, I break up with this lie. I renounce this lie. I break any agreement with the lie, that fill in the blank. And then we're going to just give that lie over to Jesus. We're just going to hand it over to Him. You can even just use your imagination.
God, I'm giving you this lie.
It has not served me well and I don't want to live with it anymore. So I'm just going to give it to you and allow you to take care of it.
[00:13:15] Speaker B: Yeah. And then ask Jesus what he wants to do with the lie. That's always really fun when you give it to him. And he's like, I'm going to hit it out of the park with a baseball bat. That. Or I'm going to throw it on the ground and stomp on it. Like, he's just so creative. And I think often we don't think about him that way as just kind of being a little bit silly and a little bit fun. But if you are open to, just like Josh said, using your imagination, visualizing Jesus and then asking him what he wants to do with it, I think you'll find that he really wants to enter this process with you. And often he's pouring the blood on it. He is nailing it to the cross and.
And almost every time he's destroying it.
[00:13:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:57] Speaker B: So he's not going to tuck it away for later. He's not going to use it against you. And so it's really just so valuable to cover yourself with the Holy Spirit as you go through this process and use that sanctified imagination that you have with him and know that Jesus is always going to be kind and gentle and loving towards you.
So ask him what he wants to do with it and watch him destroy the lie. I think that is probably the most fun part of the process.
And then ask him, jesus, what is the truth? Step number three is to find the truth.
And I think that when we say find the truth or discover the truth or anything like that, there can be this like, oh, now I have to find the scriptures and I have to figure out what the opposite is. Absolutely not. Ask him, God, what is the truth you want me to know about this? He will often bring scriptures to mind. He will often remind you of things that he's told you in the past. Maybe a song will come up that talks about the truth. But we want to hear what he says. We want this to be a fresh rhema word spoken to your heart, spoken into your spirit. Because it makes it so much more powerful when we hear the words from, from his heart to ours. And we can then begin to renew our mind with that truth. So you want to ask him, God, what is the truth about this lie? Or what is the truth you want me to know about this? And then write down what you hear, see, sense, feel, use all of your senses. Whatever comes up for you, write it and trust that the Lord is speaking to you.
[00:15:26] Speaker A: And this is just really the basics of kind of listening prayer. When we spend time with the Lord, just listening, allowing him to speak to us. Prayer is a two way communication. Sometimes we spend so much time talking, we don't give God any time to speak back to us. This is really just focus time with him to say, let's discover some lies together. We're going to walk through this process. I'm going to allow you to speak truth over me and I'm going to partner with you in this process. So step one, we identified the lie. Step two, we broke up with the lie agreement with it. Step three, we find the truth with God, we allow him to speak that into us. Step four, we're going to actually declare the truth. So what we're going to do is take that truth that you wrote down in step number three, we're going to turn that into a declaration.
So these are not just whatever affirmations I'm going to say things that's going to happen. This is truth from God that he's spoken to you that you want to take intentional steps to renew your mind with. So turn it into present tense I statement.
So it's something that if it's a truth value, it's already true and so it's happening right now. So if you're believing lies about your finances, say God is my provider, I am well taken care of. He meets all of my needs.
And notice all those things line up with the scripture that God has already spoken to us. But put it in your own voice, what you've heard from the Lord. When it's personal like that it is so much more powerful to transform you from the inside out. So we're going to actually write out those I statements, present tense. It's true about you now. And then you're going to repeat those to yourselves a couple times a day. We like morning and evening. Even three times a day is even more powerful.
But that's. You're just being intentional. This is the truth. I'm going to say it out loud. I'm going to harness the power of life and death that God's put in my tongue to speak truth over myself. And then that retrains your brain to think the truth instead of that old lie. So the old lie is gone. Jesus took care of it. He shot it into space. He hit it with a baseball bat. Whatever happened in that step of just getting rid of the lie. And now we're going to partner with the truth and we're going to make that a part of who we are. We're going to make it part of our automatic ways that we think. Instead of automatically thinking a lie, I'm going to automatically think the truth. So it takes a little bit of time. It takes intentionality to practice those. But being in them a couple times a day is really powerful.
Really. Actually doesn't take that long. Maybe a week or two till these things just start coming out of your mouth. And it's like, where did that come from? That's actually part of me. That truth is now part of me. I've been transformed by the renewing of my mind. That is so.
I just love it. It's wild when you, for the first time, you ever experience that, where you have a situation where normally you would react negatively, instead you hear truth come out of your mouth.
Whoa. That is wild because it is so powerful, this process is so powerful that God has for us to be transformed just by partnering with his truth.
[00:18:29] Speaker B: And you can use this as a weapon anytime those lies come up. To literally go back to that place with Jesus where you experienced him and repeat the truth. And so often when we're believing a lie, especially the ones that we don't know are there, it's because it's kind of an ingrained way of thinking something you've thought for a really long time, maybe something that your family has always said that the Lord is saying, that's actually not true. And so we can get in. We're in a pattern of thinking in that way. And so what this does is it begins to disrupt that pattern. You can practice the declarations multiple times a day. That is so helpful to begin to renew and rewire your brain.
But when you can catch those negative thoughts throughout the day when they start, or even if it's been, you know, a little while, and you're like, why am I feeling so grumpy or so sad or hope, like, why am I feeling hopeless or scared? Oh, I've gone down the rabbit trail. I've been ruminating on this lie that I have believed for so long. Just stop it right there and begin to repeat those declarations out loud in the moment. Because disrupting that pattern is another way that you're going to rewire your brain and renew your mind. And so we don't just use it. It's kind of like when you get a prescription from the doctor and they say, take twice a day and as needed. So this is the as needed part where you're gonna catch those lies and you're gonna begin to declare the truth so that your mind can go, oh, I don't think that way anymore. And it's just. It's really powerful.
And we like to combine it with step five, which is to laugh at the lie.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: What we're going to do is just take a moment and laugh out loud at the lies that we were believing. And actually, the funny thing is, once you say the lie out loud, it is often laughable.
[00:20:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:20:23] Speaker A: And it's fun to do this with a partner, somebody that you trust with your spouse or a good friend. Just go, you know, I was believing that God's not going to take care of my needs.
And it might. Maybe it sounds. It feels fake or phony, but just try it. Because it really breaks the power of that lie in your life. But usually they do kind of sound funny because it's just this thing that's been in your brain for forever and you didn't even realize you're believing it. And then when you say it out loud, actually, that sounds really silly. Why was I believing that?
But that laughter is just so powerful.
[00:21:00] Speaker B: Yeah. It's actually kind of like in light of the truth that the Lord just spoke to your heart, you can't speak the lie and not go, that's ridiculous. I can't believe I thought that. It's really.
You're shining the light on the lie, that the enemy has been lying to you. And often I think we get stuck in our heads. It's kind of like this place that exists, and in that place, we are not bringing somebody else into the conversation unless we're inviting Holy Spirit into there or you go to share it. You're like, oh my gosh, this blah, blah, blah is what I think. And then the other person and is like, really? That's what you've been thinking? That's kind of what it. What happens is you're having that conversation with the Lord where you're like, oh my gosh, God, I can't. This is what's. You know. And I started here and then I thought about this and then, what about that? And he's like, hey, those are lies. None of that is going to happen. That's not true. And so as you shine the light of the truth on it, then you're like, this is silly. I. I can't believe that anymore. There's no way that God's not going to come through. Oh, that's right. God's been so faithful to me so many times before. It just begins this revelatory process where you start to see the truth and the lies no longer hold any water.
[00:22:20] Speaker A: And this really comes from Psalm 2:4, where it says, he who sits in the heavens laughs. And this is God laughing at the schemes of his enemies. Because God, he goes, they have no power.
That's silly. Why do they think they could pull anything over on me? I'm the God of the universe. And it's this. We're just acting like God does because really those lies are all a scheme of the enemy. But he doesn't have any real power over you. You've been set free by the blood of Jesus so you can sit with God and laugh at the schemes of the enemy. You know what?
He doesn't like it when you laugh. He runs away.
And so it's just really powerful. We've done it time and again, especially when things. Things start to feel heavy or the lies feel really difficult. They feel really true sometimes this is the extra step that really breaks the power of that and allows that truth to really flow in your life.
It is. Just give it a try. It might feel weird at first, but just give it a try.
Nothing. There's nothing wrong with experimenting a little, just trying it out, see how it works for you. Even if it feels like fake laughter, it's still, laughter's the best medicine. It really breaks the power of those lies in your life.
And then we're just going to thank God that He has revealed the truth to you.
Thank him that he's breaking the stronghold in your mind as you're laughing. Just celebrate with him. Celebrate that you are victorious over the lies and that you being transformed by the renewing of your mind and that's it. That's our five step process. It's actually pretty simple, but it is so, so powerful. When you start to intentionally walk through these steps, it will change your life. It's changed ours. And we've seen so many people that have benefited from this process.
You can do this. God is giving you his power to break off lies and to partner with his truth and to live victorious because that's what he wants for you.
